Elsewhere — Life Simulator

Privacy Policy

Effective September 11, 2026

This is the privacy policy for Elsewhere — Life Simulator. It explains how the Android game and its companion web game handle information. For privacy questions or requests, email lifeescapeapp@gmail.com.

The Android game can save and play locally without an Elsewhere account. Store-enabled Android versions use Google services for ads and optional purchases. The browser playtest has no ads or purchases; its optional cloud saves are described separately below.

Game saves and settings

Your fictional character, choices, relationships, progress, and preferences are stored on your device. Earlier save copies and recovery records may also be kept to help recover interrupted or damaged saves. Character names and ages are game information; you do not need to enter your real name or date of birth.

The Android app keeps game saves on the device. It does not upload them to the companion website. Exporting a life creates a file in the location you choose, and importing reads the file you select. You control any copies you share or store elsewhere.

The game does not request access to your contacts, camera, microphone, or precise GPS location. It does not send your fictional life history to an advertising service. Local preferences also remember display choices and ad timing.

Personal photos, records and sharing

You can choose a JPG, PNG or WebP image from your device to use as a character portrait. The game reads only the image you select, crops and resizes it on your device, and stores the resulting portrait locally. Choosing a photo does not upload it to the developer, cloud saves, or an advertising service.

Your personal life leaderboard and recaps are also stored locally; they are not a public or global leaderboard. Photos are excluded from life-save files and copied bug reports. When exporting a recap image, you can choose whether to include your personal portrait. Any exported image can then be shared by you, so review it before sending it elsewhere.

The feedback tool prepares an email draft or a report for you to copy and send. It does not send a report automatically. Review the game version, gameplay details, and any notes you add before sharing the report with support. Removing a portrait in the game removes that local portrait; clearing all app storage also removes local photos and personal life records. Exported copies must be deleted separately.

Advertising and privacy choices

Optional rewarded ads offer small, non-transferable game benefits. A device-local record keeps completion receipts, the reward count and cooldown across lives. Rewards have no real-world monetary value. Sharing opens your chosen app; a recap is only sent when you choose to send it. The Android game keeps temporary recap images in its cache for sharing.

Store-enabled Android versions use Google AdMob. Google's Mobile Ads SDK collects and shares IP addresses, interactions such as launches and ad taps, performance diagnostics, and device or account identifiers, including the advertising ID when available. An IP address can indicate approximate location. Google uses this information for advertising, analytics, and fraud prevention. SDK data is encrypted during transmission.

Google's consent service manages ad privacy choices. Where available, open Menu → Upgrades → Privacy choices to review them. Android's privacy settings let you reset or delete your advertising ID. The Remove ads upgrade stops the game from requesting further ads once ownership is recognized; it does not delete information already processed by Google.

See Google's AdMob data disclosure and how Google uses information from apps that use its services.

Optional purchases

Google Play processes Android purchases for Remove ads and God Mode. The app receives purchase details, including product identifiers, purchase status, tokens, and signed receipts, to verify ownership, acknowledge purchases, and restore upgrades. Verified receipts are cached in the app's private device storage so previously verified access can remain available offline.

The game does not receive your full payment-card details or Google account password. Google handles its store account, payment, and transaction records under the Google Privacy Policy. Clearing game data does not erase your Google Play purchase history.

Optional cloud saves in the web game

Cloud backups are off until you enable them and choose a slot in the signed-in web game. A backup sends the selected life, including its character name and story progress, to cloud storage. Each of the three slots can keep a current and previous version. We use the signed-in account identifier supplied by the hosting service to keep different players' copies separate, and store a hashed form of that identifier with the slot's storage key.

Cloud saves use OpenAI's Sites hosting and Cloudflare storage. These providers process website requests, such as network and browser information, to deliver and secure the service. Sign-in is handled by the hosting service; the game does not receive your password. See the OpenAI Privacy Policy and Cloudflare Privacy Policy. The privacy page itself contains no advertising or added analytics scripts.

Keeping and deleting information

Cloud life data stays until you delete or replace it. To request help accessing, correcting, or deleting information held by the developer, including remaining cloud-slot records, email lifeescapeapp@gmail.com with the subject Elsewhere privacy request. Describe what you want changed. We may need to verify that the information belongs to you; do not send passwords or payment-card details.

Security and sharing

Network services use encrypted connections. The Android app uses private app storage for receipts and settings, and disables Android's automatic app-data backup. Cloud save access checks the signed-in user. No storage or transmission method can guarantee absolute security.

Information is processed by the providers described above to run the features you use. A provider's systems may be located outside your country. If you follow an advertisement or another external link, that destination's privacy practices apply.

Game setting and historical information

Elsewhere is a life simulation. Characters, teams and businesses are invented. Historical dates use published references where available; pay, living conditions, prices, eligibility and service terms also use informed estimates. Quarter-based rules simplify changing laws and regional differences. Healthcare programs did not cover everyone immediately. Future conditions are imagined. Fertility treatment dates mark broad technology milestones; access, clinic age limits, fees and success rates are simplified for play and are not individual medical predictions. The game is entertainment, not medical, legal or financial guidance.

Children and fictional ages

The game follows fictional characters through different ages. A character's age does not identify the player's age. Please review the game's store age rating and content descriptions. If a parent or guardian believes a child has sent personal information to the developer, contact us using the email above so we can investigate and address the request.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when the game's data practices change and revise the effective date. Privacy questions can always be sent to lifeescapeapp@gmail.com.
